How to send ebooks and documents to Kindle or Kindle mobile app WIRELESSLY

So you have some ebooks or documents on hard drive, but how to transfer these to your Kindle or your iPad Kindle app or other device? Typically, you would need to attach the device to the PC via a USB cable, but wouldn’t be easier to simply to send them wirelessly?
This posting will show three ways to do it
(1) from the explorer context menu, by right clicking on the documents you want to send, and
(2) by emailing your documents. We guarantee: you don’t have to install or use a gigantic piece of software like iTunes or even Calibre to do it.

Even if you don’t have a Kindle, you should install the Kindle app on your Android or iOS device, as it is one of the best FREE ebook reading apps, and possibly the best free PDF reader on both platforms.


Supported file types: a quick reminder of Kindle supported filetypes; MS Word (DOC, DOCX, RTF), Ebook Formats (MOBI, AZW, PDF), Image Formats (JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF), and HTML (HTML, HTM).
Note: we presuppose that your device and PC are both connected to the internet. If not, you will need a wired connection.

1. Sending via the Windows context menu

• Go here and download ‘Send to Kindle for PC’, then install. You will need to login using your Amazon credentials. Also that you will need to have administrative privileges’ on your PC to install.
• Next, select the ebook file or files you want to transfer, then right click ‘Send to Kindle’.

Next you will be prompted to select the Kindle you want to send to. If there are multiple Kindles or Kindle apps associated with your account, you can select the ones you want to send to (screenshot below). The files have to be Kindle-compatible ebooks and documents such as MOBI or PDF.

2. Sending via email

You can email your books to Amazon as attachments, and they will send them to your Kindle. They will even convert a range of formats to Kindle-friendly MOBI if you send an unsupported filetype.
But you will need to do three things (1) know the email address to send to (2) add the email you send from to your approved list in your Amazon account, and (3) use ‘convert’ as your email ‘subject’.

• Go to the ‘Manage your Devices’ page on Amazon (you will have to log into your account); then click on ‘Personal Document settings in the sidebar)

• To find the email address to send to: depends on which device you want to send to, if you have multiple devices. Click into ‘Personal Document Settings’ link pictured above. You will see ‘Send to Kindle E-Mail Settings’ in the middle of the page. Note the email address for the correct device.

• Next, scroll down to ‘Approved Personal Document E-mail list’. If the email you want to send from is there, you’re done; all you have to do is go to your email client to send that email.

• If the email you want to send to is NOT on the approved email list, then click ‘Add a new approved e-mail address link’ in the bottom. In the prompt that appears, type in the new email address. You can enter the whole email (e.g. name@domain.com) to approve it, or enter the domain to approve all email addresses coming from that domain (e.g. @freewaregenius.com).

• Finally, open your email client. Add the ebooks and documents you want as attachments, use ‘Convert’ as your subject, and send them off to the email address you found above. Your documents will be delivered shortly if your Kindle or device is connected to the internet.

Educators Embrace Dell Latitude 10.1 Tablet for Classroom Education

Dell’s Latitude 10.1 tablet is gaining popularity with educational usage around the U.S., with four public schools deploying Dell’s 10 inch tablet in lieu of Apple’s iPad for tablet based education. The Latitude is one of the many Windows 8 tablets out there, and this adoption could help users warm up to the fledgling OS.

According to Dell, the four school districts who have embraced the Latitude 10 are Fargo Public Schools in North Dakota, Southern Illinois University, Spartanburg School District 3 in South Carolina and Westwood Independent Schools in Texas. Fargo Public Schools disclosed in a press release that they chose Dell because students could “produce information as easily as they can consume it”, and Southern Illinois University chose the Latitude to help reduce textbook costs.

Many school districts across the U.S. have embraced tablets in their classrooms, with 53% deploying tablets. One of the biggest challenges for the school districts using tablets is integrating the hardware with the school’s existing IT infrastructure, which is reportedly easier with the Latitude than Apple’s iPad. In fact, a research report from Principled Technologies found that Dell’s Latitude 10.1 essentials tablet requires 52% less time to manage, and is 99% faster when dealing with updates than Apple’s iPad. Password management , configuring device access and developing user policies are also easier with Dell’s Windows 8 tablet.

This is good news for Dell, who is hoping to go publicly owned again. A dominant player in the PC market, the adoption of Dell’s Windows 8 tablet could help the company garner increased profits from the tablet market, and stay afloat in the PC market.

BlackBerry 10 mini Jam coming on April 6th

The Blackberry Developer Group Balkan is organizing the second BlackBerry 10 mini Jam event, this time taking place in Belgrade, the vibrant capital of Serbia. Supported by BlackBerry and the Embassy of Canada, the event promises an “unparalleled opportunity in the Balkans” to learn about the future of BlackBerry and to get the most in depth content on developing mobile applications for the BlackBerry 10 platform.

The venue at Zira hotel can host more than 500 participants, which will come from a number of countries, including Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey. These developers will be able to exchange their experiences, as well as interact with experts from BlackBerry.

The hot-new BlackBerry Z10 will be on display, and there will also be some hot prizes for the participants. Registration is free, and you can secure your seat from here.

10 free, gotta-have iPad apps

So, just get your first Pad, or looking for must-have apps for your old iPad that you may have overlooked?
Read on for 10 free iPad apps that you shouldn’t miss, from Amazon’s Kindle reader and Flipboard’s customizable “social” digital magazine to Skype video chat and Google’s Office-friendly cloud storage utility.

4. Skype for iPad

Sure, the iPad already comes with Apple’s FaceTime video-chat app, but it won’t do you much good if you’re hoping to say hello to someone who isn’t using an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

6. Pinterest for iPad
